В статье рассматриваются теоретические и научные подходы к понятиям «термин» и «терминология» в рамках мировой лингвистики. Особое внимание уделяется роли терминов в научном мышлении, принципам их формирования и лингвистическим основам построения терминологических систем. Анализируются подходы таких учёных, как Г. Райнбек, Э. Вюстер, В.М. Лейч, а также проводится сопоставление терминологических концепций в различных отраслях науки.
