The general nature of emotions does not negate their national specificities. The emotional states of Homo sapiens are described differently in the language of each linguistic and cultural community. The way universal emotions are expressed in certain situations is manifested in individuals through a national-cultural form, shaped by existing cultural norms. The purpose of this article is to explore the national-cultural conceptualization of these emotions in Spanish linguoculture through a linguistic-cognitive analysis of phraseological units representing the emotions of sadness and fear.
