This article deals with the issues based on the modal functions of the English verb "wish" and other verbs expressing desire. The study relies on the views of various researchers to examine the modal parameters of these verbs, as well as different grammatical and semantic aspects of modality. The modal aspects related to verbs like "wish," particularly the expression and analysis of desire in context, are explored in detail. The research identifies the objective and subjective modal features of these verbs and highlights their characteristics in various grammatical constructions.
