This article analyzes figurative meanings in linguistics, particularly metaphors and similes, through the lens of the phenomenon of determinization. The author explains various types of metaphors—such as simple metaphors, personification, and synesthesia—using illustrative examples. Special attention is given to the figurative use of agricultural terminology and its role in enhancing linguistic expressiveness. The paper also examines similarities and differences between metaphorical expressions in Uzbek and English. It explores the expansion of lexical meanings, their linguistic and stylistic features, and their role in conveying meaning in literary texts.
