Abstract

This study develops a methodological model aimed at enhancing students’ sociolinguistic competence in English within the framework of independent learning, and systematically analyzes the mechanisms for its practical implementation. The model is grounded in a sociocultural approach and is designed to integrate classroom activities beyond independent learning. Independent learning tasks are structured across three stages such as “highly controlled,” “moderately controlled,” and “free practice” and employ methods such as brainstorming, clustering, case study, role-plays, web-quests, project work, and online courses. Furthermore, linguo-technologies such as Think–Pair–Share, Information Gap, and Readers’ Club are highlighted as effective tools for fostering students’ ability to communicate freely in diverse contexts, internalize cultural norms and social values, and use language resources appropriately across different situations. Experimental results confirm that the proposed model significantly improves students’ language autonomy, reflective assessment skills, and professional preparedness.
