This article examines the formation of professional competence in future primary-school teachers through a functional-literacy approach. It reviews modern approaches and pedagogical methods that promote lesson quality, including structured lesson planning, interactive techniques, problem-based learning, reflective practice, and the use of educational technologies. An analysis of domestic and international experience identifies conditions for effective competence development and offers recommendations for training highly qualified educators.
