This article examines the elucidation of the science of Ma’ani in Ubaydullah ibn Mas’ud’s work Al-Vishoh. Defined as the discipline that studies the methods of aligning speech with context and purpose, Ma’ani science and its core concepts—musnad, musnad ilayh, isnad, and judgments pertaining to sentences—are analyzed. The scholar Sadr al-Shari’a divides Ma’ani science into five sections. While extensively addressing declarative sentences (khabariy jumla), the work does not delve into the discussion of interrogative sentences (inshoiy jumla). With the inclusion of Qur’anic verses, hadiths, and poetic examples, the text achieves precision and clarity in conveying meaning. The refutation of the Mu’tazilite school’s views demonstrates the profound scholarly approach in distinguishing truth and falsehood. The article holds both theoretical and practical significance for further research in rhetoric and Ma’ani sciences.
