Abstract

This article is dedicated to the research of linguistic mechanisms underlying the formation of an artistic image (character) in a literary work. The role of various linguistic units – from phonetic and lexical to syntactic and stylistic – in conveying the external and internal characteristics of the hero, his character, social status, and worldview is considered. Special attention is paid to the concept of "linguistic personality" as a linguistically structured character; methods of its creation by the author and ways of its interpretation by the reader are analyzed. Theoretical provisions on the formation of "linguistic personality" through the character's speech, motives, and actions are demonstrated using the examples from the works of Utkir Khoshimov.
