The article analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations for the formation and development of listening and reading skills within modern foreign-language and Uzbek linguodidactics. It examines psycholinguistic, cognitive, and sociocultural aspects of receptive language activities and highlights the significance of authentic materials and digital technologies in teaching students of economics. The study systematizes key approaches in Uzbek methodology—communicative, cognitive, sociocultural, professionally oriented, and integrative (CLIL)—which together contribute to the development of students’ critical thinking and communicative competence.
