Abstract

In this study, we analyze the characteristics and usage of the slash ( / ) – a punctuation mark used in linguistics, particularly in online English texts such as forums and blogs. Like other punctuation marks, the slash performs several important functions. While it was previously used mainly as a mathematical or computer symbol, in modern usage it has developed its own distinct linguistic features.
