Maqolada ingliz tili ta’limida o‘quvchiga yo‘naltirilgan mustaqil topshiriqlarning tipologiyasi va metodik asoslari tahlil qilinadi. Til universitetlari talabalari mustaqil ishlarini tashkil etishda bunday topshiriqlarning ahamiyatiga alohida e’tibor qaratilgan. Topshiriqlar axborot almashuv, fikr almashuv, mantiqiy xulosa chiqarish, yopiq va ochiq, individual va jamoaviy hamda pedagogik va real hayotiy shakllarga bo‘linadi. Metodik tamoyillar sifatida autentiklik, bosqichma-bosqich qo‘llab-quvvatlash, avtonomiya, aniq ko‘rsatmalar, hamkorlik, refleksiya va ko‘p qirrali baholash qayd etiladi. Ushbu yondashuvlar talabalarning mas’uliyatini, motivatsiyasini va faolligini oshiradi hamda til kompetensiyasi, tanqidiy fikrlash va hamkorlik ko‘nikmalarini rivojlantiradi.
