Abstract

Prince V.P. Mesherskiy is one of the popular personalities in Russia of his time. He was a publisher of the «Grajdanin» journal. V.P. Mesherskiy is the author of a few novels including «Mysteries of Modern Petersburg». It differs by the original style of writing and choice of satiric means and methods such as using first point of view, as well as idioms, images and expressions borrowed from other classics.
