Abstract

This article discusses the changes in cotton growing in the Fergana region in the late 19th - early 20th centuries, in particular the situation in agriculture during the period of the Turkestan Governor General, and the change in the attitude of the local administration to cotton growing. The article describes the introduction of a new American cotton variety to Middle Asia, the expansion of land allocated for cotton fields, and issues such as the impact on the current situation in the Ferghana Valley were considered. Also, with the help of sources, the economic changes associated with the increase in cotton crops in the Ferghana Valley, the emergence of cotton processing firms and various societies, and their attempts to take control of cotton production are analyzed.
