Abstract

The article is a review of the scientific achievements of Abu Raykhan Beruni, an outstanding encyclopedist of the Middle Ages. He wrote over 160 papers in various disciplines including astronomy, mathematics, geography and philosophy. According to historian Abu Fazl Bayhaqi, Beruni was so versatile in his knowledge that he had no equal in his time. The text emphasizes that the scientific heritage of Beruni is still not fully understood and remains an urgent task for modern science.
