The article examines crucial issues in US-China relations in 2017-2020 and identifies the main determinants that influenced the development of relations between the two countries. In particular, such issues as the “pushback strategy”, “Trade war”, international security and the geopolitical situation in the Asia-Pacific region were analyzed in this paper. The main directions, recent tendencies and prospects of Sino-American relations were determined. The Republican-led US government put pressure on China on issues such as trade imbalances, human rights, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the strengthening of US positions in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. At the same time, it was recognized that the PRC will pay more attention to the "One Belt, One Road" project, which connects Eurasia, and as a result, the role of Central Asia in China's strategy would increase. Despite the changes that have taken place, the attitude of the US administration towards China has remained moderate, and the trend for mutually beneficial cooperation is gaining momentum. While unanimous support from both houses of Congress for the US administration's demands on China during this period exacerbated existing conflicts, China's rapid economic development and growing international position intensified competition not only in the Asia-Pacific region, but in all regions of the world.
