Urbanization is a complex social process that characterizes the growth and development of cities, as well as the formation of the share of urban residents in the total population. This phenomenon indicates not only demographic changes, but also transformations in the social cycle, culture, lifestyle and system of social relations. The article describes the concept of urbanization, the impact of the urban environment on social development, as well as the problems of urbanization, such as social risks, environmental risks and instability in the urban environment.
