Мазкур мақолада Европа Иттифоқидаги институционал ислоҳотлар доирасида Европа Парламенти ваколатларини кенгайтириш жараёни кўриб чиқилган. Ассамблеянинг чекланган ваколатларидан бошлаб, Европа Парламенти ўз ролини босқичма-босқич ривожлантириб бориб, Ягона Европа акти, Маастрихт, Амстердам ва Лиссабон шартномаларини қабул қилиш каби муҳим босқичларидан ўтиши таҳлил қилинган. Мақолада Парламентнинг қонунчилик, бюджет ва назорат функцияларидаги ўзгаришлар батафсил таҳлил қилиниб, Европа Иттифоқидаги демократик етишмовчилик муаммоси ва уни ҳал қилишнинг мумкин бўлган йўллари муҳокама қилинади. Хулоса Европа Парламентининг Европа Иттифоқида бошқарув тизимини демократиялаштириш ва мустаҳкамлашга қўшган сезиларли ҳиссасини таъкидлайди.
