This article analyzes allusions in the English language, highlighting the richness and complexity of both spoken and written language. The study highlights the use of allusions as an important literary device that allows authors to refer to works, famous personalities, events or cultural objects, which enriches the texts with additional meanings and contexts. The typology of allusions and the mechanisms of their functioning in the literature are considered. Particular attention is paid to their role in deepening the thematic richness of works, explaining complex ideas and forming intertextual connections. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the importance of allusions for expanding literary horizons and improving understanding of cultural and textual relationships.
