Abstract

Recurrence of anterior abdominal wall hernias is currently considered one of the most challenging areas in abdominal surgery. Pathomorphological studies demonstrate that defects in tissue regeneration, fibrotic processes, and imbalance in collagen structure play a key role in the development of recurrences. Additionally, age-related morphological changes affect the tissue's regenerative capacity, increasing the risk of hernia recurrence. This study analyzes the interrelationship between morphological and age factors, highlighting their role and clinical significance in the recurrence process. The obtained data are crucial for improving preventive measures and surgical techniques for recurrent hernias.
