This article discusses an approach to teaching foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialties at the university, with an emphasis on economics and natural sciences. The main attention is paid not only to students’ mastery of specialized vocabulary relevant to their future professional activities but also to the development of the ability to analyze information and apply the acquired knowledge in professional communication in a foreign language, both orally and in writing. The purpose of the training is to prepare students for the effective use of a foreign language in the professional sphere and international interaction, which helps to increase their competitiveness in the labor market.
