This article analyzes the life, scientific legacy, and methodology of the 10th-century Arab linguist Ahmad ibn Faris ibn Zakariya (d. 1004). His renowned works, including "Maqayis al-lug'a" (Book on the Roots of Language), "As-saahibiy fi fiqh al-lug'a wa sunan al-Arab fi kalamiha" (On Language Laws and Arabic Speaking Styles), and "Kitab al-Mujmal fi al-Lug'ah" (Comprehensive Compendium on Language), elucidate Arabic lexicology, word roots, semantic changes, and lexicography methodology. The article examines Ibn Faris's methodological approach, linguistic innovations, and his significant role in advancing Arabic philology.
