The article examines the necessity of developing independent thinking skills in primary school students. The relevance of innovative approaches in fostering independent thinking was substantiated. The study highlighted that problem-based learning, project-based learning, the STEAM approach, interactive methods, and digital technology-based approaches were identified as effective tools. Additionally, elements of intrinsic motivation, personal interest, and reflection that stimulate independent thinking were analyzed. The role of the teacher's professional preparation, methodological expertise, and educational stance in cultivating critical thinking, initiative, and a sense of responsibility in students was explored. The schematic model proposed in the article further elucidates the didactic potential of innovative approaches. The article concludes that developing independent thinking at an early age enhances the effectiveness of learning in subsequent stages of education.
