This article highlights the relevance of developing metacognitive skills in biology. Metacognitive skills are a person's ability to monitor, plan, and evaluate their thinking processes. During the research, methods of literature analysis, pedagogical experimentation, and observation were employed. The results showed that students gained a deeper understanding of biological concepts, developed independent analytical skills, and formed a reflective approach. In the discussion, the effectiveness of the metacognitive approach in biology education was analyzed, and the necessity of its widespread implementation in future biology teaching was substantiated.
