Abstract

This article examines the impact of various assessment methods and forms of knowledge and skills control among medical students. Knowledge assessment is not merely an evaluation of what a student has learned; it also represents an essential component of the learning process. A well-designed system of assessment and knowledge control not only allows educators to assign an accurate grade, but also helps identify strengths and weaknesses in the learning outcomes of both students and instructors. It contributes to structuring knowledge and skills, motivating further learning, and encouraging students to engage in extensive independent study and active participation in the educational process. Practical experience demonstrates that relying on a single assessment method is ineffective, as no single approach can provide a comprehensive evaluation of medical students’ competencies across different areas. Each individual method possesses inherent advantages and limitations. To mitigate these limitations, it is necessary to use multiple types of assessment for evaluating students’ knowledge and skills. Only through such a combined approach can the reliability of knowledge control and the overall effectiveness of the training process be ensured.
